Case Overview
The pool is organized across several value bands rather than around one dominant item category. Lower-value skins account for much of the total probability, while premium entries are assigned narrower probability ranges. This makes the distribution asymmetric: the majority of outcomes cluster below the values represented by the rarest items, while a small number of premium skins can have an outsized effect on the mathematical average. Market positioning is shaped by the breadth of the pool, the tradability of included skins, and the durability of demand across different item tiers.
Value and Risk Factors
Expected value reflects the probability-weighted value of the complete item pool, not a guaranteed individual return. The main analytical issue is variance, especially when premium outcomes carry low probability but high market value. Evaluation should also account for liquidity, wear condition, market spreads, and shifts in demand for specific finishes. A stable lower tier can reduce sensitivity to isolated price movements, while changes in premium-item valuations may still move the overall expected return because those entries contribute disproportionately to the upper tail.
